Travel Day 3!

Nebraska...
The saying, “Don’t fix it if it ain’t broke” came to mind this morning as Dean and I stick to our successful driving rotation.  Dean is what you’d call a morning person...I AM NOT.  So its been easy to determine our first driver each day.  Taking shifts that range anywhere from 3-4 hours has made the driving less of a pain and kept us from being fatigued and bored.  Not much to add from yesterday’s synopsis of Nebraska.  We do have a hodgepodge of states coming up, should be fun!!
Iowa...
Not much here except this picture.  I know it isn’t the best, but those cones are on the center line of the interstate!!!  That’s right the entire right lane of the highway is blocked off because it’s flooded! Next state please!

Missouri...
We spent more than our fair share of time in Missouri today.  There were still fields after fields of corn, but there was the added flair of hills!  Not great for the gas mileage, but we sure did appreciate the diversity.  We went through Hannibal on our way to Illinois and crossed the mighty Mississippi River!
Illinois...
Continuing on through our journey we get to pass through another capitol...Springfield.  Will much of the drive behind us we still find it tough to get excited because it is soooooo boring and the end just isn’t quite in sight.  Obviously the longer we are on the road, the shorter the posts become.  And yes there may be a connection : )
Indiana...
Seeing the Indiana welcome sign was one of the most encouraging things all day!  The journey through the last 4 states was beginning to take it’s toll on us.  We had a slight case of cabin fever....too bad we weren’t at a cabin huh!  It was a quick trip through the state overall, but with KY nearing we had a lead foot and thoughts of being with family!

OH...
A small slice of the Buckeye state was all we needed before we hopped into KY.  It was a blur as we anxiously approached home!
KENTUCKY!!!
WE MADE IT!  3 full days of driving, 2 short nights of rest, and 1 Penske later we made it!  So good to see Sammi and not be cooped up in the truck anymore!  Sleepy time is in store now... from here on out it will be preparation for the baby....and then THE BABY!

  1. Seth,

I'm so glad you made it safely to KY! Reading your posts brought back memories from when I made the drive from Idaho to KY last year. Every boring moment!

I'm really excited for you guys and the baby and hope to see all 3 of you soon!
