Utah...
After a short but much needed rest in Salt Lake City, we began yet another full day of driving across the US of A! We had two needs to start out our day: 1) gas 2) food. When we stopped we saw a unique sight that most of us would only recognize from our time playing Wii Fit...Super Ski Jumps.
Fun way to start off the day! The rest of Utah was relatively ho-hum but at this point in the road trip we couldn’t ask for more!
Wyoming...
What a beautiful state! The sandstone and rolling hills with the occasional rock formation sprouting out from the horizon. This is the first time for Dean or myself to drive through the state, and I had one consistent thought as we drove through....Oregon Trail. I thought for sure I have seen some of the cities we passed by as major junctions in the game. Thankfully for us we didn’t have to stop because of a broken axle, try to ford a river, or suffer the dastardly effects of dysentery. My last though on the state is this...WHY did someone invent the word BUTTE. My immature mind can’t handle it lol Especially when one of the exits was for PILOTS BUTTE. hahaha SERIOUSLY!?!
Nebraska...
I know most of you think I am corny. YOU MUST NOT HAVE SEEN NEBRASKA! Great expanses of cornfields interrupted by the occasional cattle farm pretty well defines the state from our eyes. Also FLAT. As we crossed the state line we could see some pretty ominous clouds to the North with signs of more to come the further into the state we traveled. Weather had the slightest impact on our drive, but God protected us from the brunt of the system. As night fell we began to see deer on the side of the interstate and wide open roads. We traveled as far as our bodies allowed and called it a night.
So what’s coming tomorrow you ask? I think Dean and I are going to go on a drive...not sure where just the two of us, the Penske, and the Saturn.
