CA...
Dean (my father in-law) and I started our long haul across the USA! The first segment is a familiar one to Tahoe. We have had the opportunity to ski here a hand full of times over the past two years and it’s weird to make this drive without the prospect of skiing ahead. Also, the fact that we have all our possessions with us is more than slightly different too. lol The cool, crisp air with the faintest aroma of pine is welcome relief from the sun cooking us through the windshield. Its unbelievable to se this much snow this far into the summer. I couldn’t think of a better picture to leave the Golden State.
NV...
Nevada we found out has two pronunciations (nev-ah-duh) or (na-va-da). Having already determined my position on the issue, I have chosen this one:
BORING!
Sammi and I thoroughly enjoyed the small segment called Las Vegas! Dean and I are seeing the other part of the state. Flat desert with an accent of rolling hills and mountains.
The drive has been good thus far, mostly because its been Dean driving and me riding shotgun. We’ll trade somewhere in NV, but as far as road trips go it has been enjoyable. Two states down, one to go (for today anyway) :)
UT...
Well Nevada is apparently gi-normous when you travel by interstate 80! You know when you are at the state line when you see flashing lights and a half dozen casinos all clustered by one convenient exit.
I was at the helm throughout the state and we called it a night in Salt Lake. There were some beautiful scenes as the sun set behind us casting a radiant purple and pink across the cotton ball clouds, making it a little more interesting than just looking at the road. It was a beautiful day for traveling and we met our target stopping point. Dean takes back over in the morning as we head off for Nebraska!
Loved hearing about the first leg of the trip! We look forward to hearing more, but imagine you are tired :o) Nancy and John
